Team Rules
 
  • Treat others as you would like to be treated!
  • Be prepared when class beings. This means that pencils are sharpened, supplies are on the desk, and students are seated. Students have five minutes between classes to go to their locker or the restroom. Students should not expect to leave the classroom.
  • Be Respectful of others and their space. This includes raising your hand and waiting to be recognized before asking a question or making a comment. It is impolite to talk while the teacher is talking, while another student is talking, or when a guest enters the room.
  • Be Responsible. Students will turn in their assignments on time. They will be on time to class and keep their work area free from trash. Students will care for their own property, that of the school, and other students.
  • Be Honest. Students are expected to tell the truth and complete their own work.

 

Team Information
 
  • No gum chewing at any time or place on campus!
  • All assignments are to be completed in pencil unless otherwise directed by teacher.
  • All assignments for each academic class will be kept in a 3-ring notebook for the entire six week period. This work will be used in the student portfolio.
  • At the end of each class, students will be dismissed by the teacher.
  • Students will place all homework assignments in the homework box at the beginning of home base each day.
  • After each class in the Pathfinder team area, students will prepare for their next class and then line up quietly outside their classroom. Teachers will admit students to class as a group. Students will not enter a classroom unless a teacher is present. Students are expected to be on time to class. Remember: If a student receives a third tardy in a six-week period, he/she will receive disciplinary action.
  • Students are required to read in their Accelerated Reading book for 20 minutes each school night and then record a brief summary in their LRL (Literature Response Log). Students will also read for 30 minutes during DEAR (Drop Everything and Read). AR book and LRL must be brought to DEAR and reading class every day. Students should choose books within their ZPD range, and point goals will be set each six-week period. Students may not take tests on books that have not been summarized in the LRL.

    Field Trips and Rewards
     

    We plan to take the entire team on at least one field trip this year. We will go to Rock Island State Park for an interdisciplinary unit in the fall. You will be notified if other trips are planned.

    The Pathfinder teacher believe that hard work should be rewarded. Each six-weeks, students who complete at least 85% or more of their homework in each academic class and hove no failing grades will be invited to participate in a special activity. Students who have perfect attendance will also be rewarded. These reward trips might involve a walk to Dairy Queen, or Pizza Hut for lunch or a bus trip to the movies, the skating rink, or the bowling alley. We are always looking for new incentives to encourage students to do their best!

    If a student misbehaves and/or breaks school rules on any school field trip or reward trip, he or she may become ineligible to attend class or team field trips for the remainder of the school year. This also includes if the student has been assigned After School Instruction, In-School Suspension, or Out-of0School Suspension.

    Students who complete work and behave well are given the opportunity to a "break" at the snack and drink machines. This may occur several times a week and is considered a reward.
