Sexual Risk Avoidance Program 7th, 8th, & 9th grade
As a student in the Warren County School System, your son/daughter will be instructed in a
program entitled Choosing the Best... Path, and Choosing the Best... Life. This program will be part
of your child’s 7th, 8th, & 9th grade classes. A Sexual Risk Avoidance specialist and/or a Registered
Nurse will teach the classes.
The curricula promotes prevention of teen high-risk behaviors and deals with topics including whole
person development, goal setting, decision making, setting personal boundaries, assertiveness
techniques, media influences, internet safety, relationship skills, and consequences of high risk
behaviors (alcohol, drugs, premarital sex). Students will be given accurate health information on
sexually transmitted diseases and HIV. Students will fill out the anonymous pre and post session
surveys.

Departments. The video clips used in class may be viewed by contacting the Health Services
Department at 931-668-4022.
A parent or guardian who wishes to excuse their child from any portion of the Sexual Risk
Avoidance classes shall submit a request in writing to the student’s teacher or principal.
